About Project:
The new NCOD – North City Operations Depot is a new purpose built multi building campus for Dublin City Council. The depot consists of a 4 storey office block, Warehouses, Workshops, Covered Carparks & Salt Barn and will house various departments for the council.
Mechanical Co-Ordination
The project was developed as a BIM (Building Information Modelling) project with all stakeholders producing and developing their own respective models for use in the co-ordination and construction phase.
ENGdoc, working on behalf of Aircon Mech, developed the Mechanical models for all of the individual buildings and completed a thorough co-ordination process including liaising on behalf of our client with all other parties and client representation at the weekly BIM meetings.
As the process evolved as solutions and compromises were found between all parties. On completion of the process, drawings including ‘Builderswork’ and detailed and dimensioned drawings ‘For Construction’ were issued to the site.
As Built & COBie
As the co-ordination phase of the project ramps down, so momentum on-site increases. At this stage of the project attention moves to the final handover requirements – both graphical and non-graphical.
As with all projects, accurate installation drawings are required on completion. On this project COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange) was also required as part of the non-graphical handover requirements. This involved the addition of specific information relating to all plant and equipment which will be useful during the operation period to be inputted into the model during the construction and commissioning stages of the project.
