The project consisted of the construction of a new biopharmaceutical process facility at Grifols Engineering, Grangecastle, Dublin. Representing the Electrical Contractor, ENGdoc provided on-site BIM support over a 24 month period to ensure a smooth delivery of the installation, commissioning and handover phase of the project. The electrical services included full HV/MV installation, fire protection, Vesda air sampling system, lighting and emergency lighting, general services and cable containment.
On-Site Support
The delivery of this project required our BIM support to be site based for the duration of the construction phases. This full-time commitment allowed our BIM co-ordinator to provide complete support to our client in all construction and co-ordination meetings throughout the project. It also allowed site access to monitor the installation as it happened and ensure that any details in terms of drawings or details were readily available to the site teams.
The nature of this project involved liaising with multinational teams across a range of disciplines, using a variety of software solutions including Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD and Plant 3D. Our scope also demanded the creating of families from data sheets to ensure the equipment would be capable of being installed in desired locations and exploring alternative options where this was not possible. The final handover consisted of fully detailed ‘as built’ drawings complete with device numbers and circuit references for all services covered in the installation.
