ENGdoc were engaged to survey and model this existing building to facilitate the upgrading of mechanical and electrical services within the tenant areas. As the building remained occupied throughout, the services had to be co-ordinated on a phased basis to facilitate continuity of business whilst the works took place.
As reliable and accurate drawings were not available on this project, a full building survey was undertaken by ENGdoc outside of working hours on a floor by floor basis. The results of the survey were modelled in Revit and this model was used to co-ordinated the proposed upgrade works. As the services needed to fit in a restricted floor void and had to be installed in a limited time slot, accurate co-ordination drawings were essential to facilitate this process. The modelling also allowed valve sets to be prefabricated away from the working building and installed knowing the space was going to be available once on site. Following installation, a final ‘as built’ survey was carried out on each zone to ensure the client was now provided with accurate building information should any future works be required.
